We are incredibly proud to announce that Easigrass has been commissioned to construct a bespoke, high-spec putting green installation for the world-renowned Royal Birkdale Golf Club.
Royal Birkdale is a name that commands respect in the world of golf, having hosted The Open Championship ten times. To be part of an installation at such a historic venue is a testament to the quality of our artificial grass and the precision of our installation teams.
More Than Just Grass: The Engineering Behind the Green
This isn’t your average garden putting green. The technical plans (shown on this page) reveal a sophisticated 20-metre-long installation designed to challenge even the most seasoned pros while providing a high-impact experience for spectators and sponsors.
Here are some of the standout features of the Royal Birkdale project:
- Modular Precision: The green is constructed from five 4-metre panels, attached end-to-end to create a seamless 20-metre run. This modular design allows for perfect tensioning of the grass, ensuring a professional-grade “roll” of the ball.
- Realistic Hazards: To mimic the challenges of a true links course, the design includes integrated “Water” hazards and “Fringe Grass” textures.
- The Birkdale “Bunkers”: We aren’t just laying flat turf. The plan includes “Fillable Bunkers” and a “Removable Raised Section” at the end of the green to create undulation and difficulty.
- The “Hole-in-One” Experience: This installation is built for excitement. When a player sinks a hole-in-one, the system is designed to trigger confetti cannons and music—bringing a festival atmosphere to the prestigious grounds of Birkdale.
- Elite Branding: With integrated sponsor boards on both sides, this installation is set to be a focal point for visitors and media alike.
